Sir:-

I have the honour to rafar you to my despatch No. 426

of Hovember 13 last respecting the maintenance of the Britis}

Postal Agencies in China.

I am now in receipt of a despatch from the Governor

or Hongkong forwarding detailed Eatinates of the Ravenue

and Expenditure of these Agancien for the year 1910, from

which it appearn that only three of the Agencima, namely

those at Amoy, Canton and Swatow, are run at a profit, the

net rayanum derived from these three posts amounting to

Six thousand five hundred dollars only. This mm, together

with the contribution from Imperial Funds of Seven thousand

aight hundred dollars produces a gain of Porteen thousand
